Scripting Layer Comps to Export PDF Files
« on: April 25, 2012, 04:21:18 PM »
Hello,

I am looking for a way to export a single PDF of an InDesign document in which each page represents a different layer comp state.
I assume that it would be possible to write a script that activates a layer comp, exports a PDF, and then repeats this process for each remaining comp.
The script would then have to combine the multiple PDF's into a single file.

Will this method work?
Is there a more streamlined/faster technique that I'm overlooking?
Is there a scripting guide for layer comps beyond what is available in the applescript dictionary?

Thanks a lot for the help,
Jared

Hello Jared,

we'll check what would it take for us to embed this functioanlity in the plug-in directly.

Thank you for sharing your feature ideas with us!

Hi Jared,

the new scripting guide is now available online in the Layer Comps Help: http://www.dtptools.com/help.asp?id=206

The way to achieve the desired PDF with each page being a comp from a single page documetn comp, you can use the switching of active coms and than simply copy spread to a new intermediate document.

Thanks,

Jan
